Features Full race Viper! Comments The GTS-R is an all-out racing version of the GTS Coupe, producing approximately 700 horsepower and featuring a carbon fiber and Kevlar composite body. The GTS-R earned the 1997-1999 FIA GT2 (later GTS) championships, 1998-2000 LeMans GTS Class and 2000 Daytona 24 Hours outright. This example was purchased new by Taisan International, Inc. and driven by the famous Ricky Chiba in numerous international events including the Japanese Grand Touring Car Championship. Taisan International, Inc., a Tokyo-based company, was the first customer to purchase a new GTS-R, the Viper specifically tuned for racing. Formed in 1984, Team Taisan captured the Japanese Sports Car Championship for three consecutive years (1985-1987), and the Japan Touring Car (Class 2) Championship in 1989. Recently, Taisan earned two championships in the Japanese Grand Touring Championship (JGTC) series in 1995 and 1996.
